There's no rule published saying who is allowed to send mail using this name. So a stranger can email your customers as you, the classic setup for an invoice scam.

The site doesn't insist on the secure connection from the very first click, so a visitor's first moment on the page can be nudged onto an unprotected one without them noticing.

The login token is left readable

The little pass that keeps a customer logged in isn't marked off-limits to other code on the page, so if anything malicious does run, it can grab that pass and become the customer.

None of this requires breaking in. It's all sitting in plain view, which is exactly why it's worth understanding.

Why local

The same checks a big company runs, for the shop down the street.

Large companies have a team whose whole job is watching these signals. Most local businesses don't, not because they don't care, but because no one ever sat down and explained it in plain words. The threats are the same. The robots reading your site don't know or care how small you are.

We live and work here too, and we'd rather the businesses around us understand this stuff than get caught out by it. So this is meant to be useful on its own. Read it, learn something, and you're already ahead of most of the web.
